ACTIVE AND PASSIVE SEISMICS IN LATERALLY INHOMOGENEOUS MEDIA III

Workshop meeting

June 7 - June 11, 2027

FIRST CIRCULAR

Local Chapter of EAGE Czech Republic, in cooperation with the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague, Seismik s.r.o. and Moser Geophysical Services, organizes the workshop ACTIVE AND PASSIVE SEISMICS IN LATERALLY INHOMOGENEOUS MEDIA III. It will take place June 7–11, 2027, at a location in the Czech Republic to be confirmed.

The APSLIM workshop continues the tradition of the SWLIM (Seismic Waves in Laterally Inhomogeneous Media) workshops held at Liblice Castle (1978, 1983, 1988), Třešť Castle (1995), Zahrádky Castle (2000), Hrubá Skála Castle (2005), and Teplá Premonstratensian Monastery (2010), as well as the more recent APSLIM workshops held at Loučeň Castle (2015) and Želiv Monastery (2022).

The workshop focuses on theoretical and computational aspects of seismic wave propagation in complex structures, as well as passive seismics. Topics include modeling seismic wave fields, inversion, processing of seismic data in laterally heterogeneous, isotropic and anisotropic, elastic and anelastic structures, and passive seismics, including the monitoring of hydraulic fractures. Applications may be in seismic exploration, reservoir monitoring, and global seismology. Both asymptotic ray methods and full-wave forward modeling solutions will be covered. The workshop welcomes both theoretical presentations and case studies.

Oral and poster sessions will be held, with 30-minute talks (20 minutes presentation + 10 minutes discussion). In line with past workshops, emphasis will be put on informal discussions and exchange of ideas. The selected location will provide excellent conditions for this purpose.

Participants are kindly requested to fill in the online pre-registration form. Accommodation capacity is limited, and early applications are recommended.

Conference fee: EUR 750 (discounted fee of EUR 650 for payments before March 31, 2027). The fee includes accommodation and full board for five days, social program, local transportation, conference materials, and publication of proceedings in a Special Issue of Studia Geophysica et Geodaetica. A program for accompanying persons may be organized depending on interest.

Abstracts should be up to two pages long and will be included in the printed abstract book. Detailed instructions and deadlines will be provided in the Second Circular to be distributed in November/December 2026.

Organizing Committee: Petr Bulant, Leo Eisner, Tijmen Jan Moser
